What we love about Moodle

“By far, the best feature of Moodle, is having all of the materials for the current week’s assignment automatically organized on the front course page and connected to a date that we can manage” ~Sue Kuba.
Moodle courses primarily appear as a single Webpage divided by weeks or modules.  No more searching for course materials as if they were Easter Eggs hidden throughout the site.  This interface eases student’s anxiety regarding each week’s materials as what is required and available for each week/module is obvious.
Moodle allows the faculty member to change their view to "Student view" allowing them to see the page as a student would.
Moodle is simple to learn.  The basic skills, enough to run a course, can be acquired quickly.
Moodle interfaces with CARS so students don't have to be entered by hand.

Best Practices

Use color properly. Do not rely only on color to differentiate items in your site. For example, persons who are colorblind cannot distinguish between green and red, so highlighting text in red will not be helpful. Also, make sure there is sufficient contrast between background color and items in the foreground, such as buttons and text, so that people with compromised vision will clearly see them as separate.
